Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the procedure take?

From beginning to end you can expect it to be about 2 hours.  The procedure is split between two appointments that are 30-60 days apart to allow for healing. The initial procedure should take between 60 and 90 minutes and the second appointment should take between 30-60 minutes.

Does the application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary and available to ensure the micro-pigmentation is as comfortable as possible. A wide range of medical grade anesthetics is used for your comfort. Some clients find it a little uncomfortable whereas other clients report no discomfort at all. A combination of 2 anesthetics are used, first a topical numbing cream and then a local anesthetic is introduced on the microblading procedure has started. This is reapplied during the treatment for your comfort.

How do you choose the shape?

We choose the shape and style together.  At the beginning of the microblading procedure we will take measurements and discuss your preferences.  We will then draw in a shape for your new brows that I recommend and we work together to perfect this to suit your preference and measurements. As well as to check symmetry and position.

How do you choose the color?

We choose a color together by applying small amounts of  different colored pigments to the skin near your brows and selecting the best match.  This is a custom blend to best match your skin tone, features and personal preference.

How long does the Microblading Result Last?

This varies from person to person and a color refresh is recommended on average from 12-18 months after your initial microblading procedure.

What will they look like immediately after the procedure?

Your brows may be a little swollen, red and sometimes a bit blanched.  This is all very normal.  They will be considerable darker for the first week before they begin to fade out to a softer color.

Will they fade?

Your body’s skin changes over time and so will any semi-permanent makeup coloration implanted into the skin’s layers.  However, this natural fading process takes years and touch ups are easily done and recommended as your color fades over time.

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Many clients can walk right out the door ready to show off their new brows. Initially stronger in color, your new brows will soften to a natural looking and beautiful hue in 2-3 weeks.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little tender for the first few hours after the numbing wears off and tender to the touch for a couple of days. Many clients refer to the level of discomfort to that of a minor sunburn.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding.  This will depend on the client. If a person is taking blood thinners on a daily basis then some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but if a person is on blood thinners then bruising may occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days and the color is darker than most expect for the first 7-10 days.

Will my Microbladed Eyebrows look fake?

No! When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment into the skin it appears more natural looking than even topically applied  eyebrow pencils, gels waxes or shading.

When will I see the final results?

A noticeable difference will be readily apparent immediately following the procedure.  You will see our final results after the healing process is fully completed in 2-3 weeks.

What type of pigments do you use?

Cosmetics and medical tattooing have proven to be safe. Many medical professionals who perform actual tattooing use the very same pigments. People have been placing color in their skins for centuries and through the years, a generally accepted list of color additives which are expected to perform well have proven to be safe. The FDA does not regulate the colors that are used in tattooing nor do they regulate colors used in cosmetics.  Our supplier’s ingredients for inorganic pigments are in iron oxides, distilled water, alcohol, glycerin and general colors that are found in all retail cosmetics.

What if I don’t like it?

Although the procedure is considered semi-permanent these types of procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent. Colors will appear much darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process. The healing time is different for each individual and, remember, it takes time to adjust to a new look.

Can I have my brows microbladed if I am pregnant or nursing?

No you cannot have this treatment if you are nursing or pregnant.

Microblading Before & After Care

Before Your Appointment…

Prior to your semi-permanent cosmetic enhancement think about the look that you would like to achieve. Cosmetic enhancements normally require multiple applications sessions.  To achieve the best results you will be required to return for at least one additional enhancement 30-60 days after the initial application.

Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals.  This process can take up to 14 days.

*Do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen 2 days prior to or after your procedure.  Tylenol is safe to take if needed.

*Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.

*Keep alcohol intake ton a minimum 2 days prior to and after your procedure.

*A sensitivity test will be performed unless waived upon request.

*Do not use Retin A or anti-aging skincare products close to the enhancement site 1 week prior to or after your procedure.

*Do not use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to or after your procedure.

*As with electrolysis the National Blood Service does not accept donations of blood for 1 year after a cosmetic enhancement.

Eyebrow Enhancement

*Waxing treatments should be performed no less than 3 days prior to your procedure.

*IPL Laser hair removal should be performed no less than 2 weeks prior to your enhancement.

*Electrolysis treatments should be performed no less than 5 days prior to your enhancement.

*Eyebrow tinting should not be performed for 2 weeks after your enhancement.

After your procedure…

The area treated may show redness and swelling and the color may look darker and more intense than desired – this is very normal.  Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed and that time frame is at the discretion of the technician. A 30-60 day healing time is required before any further work can be done.

In order to let your brows heal well avoid water on the brow area, makeup on the brow area, the gym, a sauna or swimming pool for 7 days.  Once the area has completely healed (approximately one week) you may consider wearing sunblock on the treated area to reduce color fading due to the sun.

Strong chemicals, Glycolic Acids or peels of any kind may cause lightening of the pigments.  Always call and check with your technician if in any doubt prior to usage of these skin products or procedures.  DO NOT PICK OR PULL at the treated area as it will result in pigment loss or scarring.

You will go through 3 Healing Phases: 1-heal, 2-peel, 3-fade

You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area – this is quite normal and will subside with in 12 hours and is due to the Lidocaine.

If you have any lymphatic fluid (plasma) or blood weeping from the area you may gently clean the area with saline, cool pre-boiled water and gauze blotting gently dry to remove any moisture.

With clean hands and a cotton swab you may apply a fine layer of after care balm to the treated area.

Repeat this treatment up to 3 times daily if the area feels tight.

After the fine scabbing has sloughed away you will see a different hue to the color implanted.
